Welcome to Spring Quarter 2014, UC Santa Barbara!
Welcome to Spring quarter! Remember to slow down and enjoy our surroundings. For many of you, spring quarter will be the culmination of your graduate or undergraduate career here at UCSB. Congratulations! As you anticipate the next stage of life, take time to acknowledge your sources of inspiration as well as the achievement of academic goals. For those who will be remaining, take the time to create a memorable future!
Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS) is asking for your support this quarter. We are asking for your vote for CAPS to help us increase our levels of staffing, increase the diversity (linguistic and cultural) of our staff, and hopefully decrease our wait time for first appointments. We are asking for your vote to keep our #saysomething for suicide prevention campaign for which we are losing state funds. Please look for more information in the Daily Nexus and our various tabling events. We will be Rocking the Vote on April 21st at SRB from 11-1! Please come hear some music and hear more about what your vote means for CAPS and our UCSB community.
Our satellite offices are located in the Student Resource Building, Student Health, San Clemente, Santa Catalina, and San Rafael. The Santa Catalina office is located next to the Wellness Center and staffed by Wellness and Mental Health peers.
Counseling and Psychological Services continues to provide services to graduate and undergraduate students. We offer individual and group counseling to help you through life and school transitions. Our Mental Health Peer Program is going strong! The program resources include the Egg and Massage chairs. The Mental Health Peers offer workshops and an individualized test anxiety program.
If you or a friend need to talk to an objective professional, or your family and friends’ advice isn’t helping enough, please feel free to make an appointment with Counseling and Psychological Services by stopping in or by calling (805) 893-4411. To meet our Mental Health Peers, no appointment is necessary, but please be sure to check in at the reception desk to access the Egg and Massage chairs.
If you need phone consultation after business hours or on weekends, please call (805) 893-4411 and follow the instructions.
Wishing you a successful and productive quarter –
Jeanne Stanford, Ph.D.
